Ras Al Hanout:

  • The Moroccan inspiration of this recipe comes from the Ras Al Hanout spice mix, which can go quite nicely in various fish or vegetarian dishes.

Ingredients:

  • 4 tilapia fillets

  • 1 Cup steel cut oats

  • ¼ Cup parmesan cheese

  • 1 ½ Tbsp mayonnaise or sour cream

  • 1 Tbsp lemon juice, or 1 Tbsp vinegar (Balsamic vinegar may not work, but all others are fine)

  • 1 Tsp Ras al Hanout spice mix (see below)

  • Salt, to taste

  • Pepper, to taste

Ras al Hanout spice mix (Makes about 1 tablespoon):

  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1 teaspoon cardamom

  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne

  • 1/4 teaspoon ginger powder

  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric

Directions:

  • Pre-heat oven to 425 degree.

  • In a small bowl, make the topping by combining all ingredients except the tilapia, salt, and pepper. Set aside.

  • Grease the baking sheet with oil, and place the tilapia fillets on the baking sheet. Season with salt and pepper.

  • Cover the tilapia with the topping. Bake for about 10 mins. Check for doneness and serve.

Recipe Inspiration:

This recipe is inspired by the "Parmesan Crusted Tilapia" Recipe posted on "Spend with Pennies"

Pairing ideas: This fish is very simple to make and goes well with black bean soup, salad, curry, or other Moroccan inspired veggies.
